About

As the economic heart of Morocco, Casablanca is set to become one of the main stages of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025. A port city home to over 4 million residents, it blends modernity, dynamism, and a deep passion for football. The Mohammed V Stadium, a true temple of the sport, will host several matches of the tournament.

Founded in the 7th century under the name Anfa, Casablanca was long a strategic port before becoming the Kingdom’s economic capital. Today, it hosts the Stock Exchange and the headquarters of major national and international companies.

Yet the city retains its roots: its lively medina contrasts with its modern districts, while the Hassan II Mosque—built partly over the ocean—stands proudly on the skyline.

Football in Casablanca

Football is the shared identity of the people of Casablanca. Wydad (1937) and Raja (1949) are among Africa’s most decorated clubs. Their derby, played at Mohammed V Stadium, is considered one of the most intense in the world. Casablanca is also home to historic teams like Racing (1917) and TAS, winner of the CAF Confederation Cup—further cementing its status as the football capital of Africa.

 Getting Around Casablanca

The city has all the infrastructure needed to welcome delegations and supporters. Mohammed V Airport, the country’s largest, connects Casablanca to major world capitals. The high-speed train Al Boraq, along with the Casa-Voyageurs and Casa-Port train stations, as well as a modern tramway and bus network, ensure smooth mobility.

What to visit in Casablanca?

Visitors can admire the Hassan II Mosque, stroll along the Aïn Diab Corniche or through the Habous district, discover the Villa des Arts or the Abderrahman Slaoui Museum, or taste local flavors. Cosmopolitan and vibrant, Casablanca promises to be one of the highlights of AFCON 2025.
