Amoura: Algeria’s “gifted generation” will be chasing AFCON glory in Morocco
Algeria forward Mohamed Amine Amoura says the current “gifted generation” of the Fennecs is determined to chase a third TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations crown in Morocco in December.
Speaking to CAFonline.com, the Wolfsburg striker outlined a united dressing room, clear personal targets and a belief that Algeria can thrive despite a demanding group that includes Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea and Sudan.
Amoura, 25, has enjoyed a prolific run for the national team in recent months and credits consistent hard work and trust from coaches and team-mates.
He insists Algeria “respect everyone but fear no one” and views team spirit as the squad’s greatest weapon.
Below is the interview:

CAFonline.com: Mohamed Amine, how are you and what is the mood like before the start of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025?
Amoura: Everything is going very well, thank God. The atmosphere is excellent—serious, focused and full of desire to give our best. We know AFCON 2025 will be a very strong tournament, so we are preparing with total concentration.
CAFonline.com: You are set for a third AFCON with Algeria. What are your personal goals?
Amoura: It’s a great honour every time I wear the Algeria shirt. Personally, I want to help the team as much as possible—by scoring, providing assists or simply doing the collective work on the pitch. The most important thing is to give everything for the country.

CAFonline.com: You have been in fine form for the Fennecs in AFCON and World Cup qualifying, scoring regularly. What is behind this run?
Amoura: The secret is hard work—and the confidence the coach and my team-mates give me. When you feel that support and you work consistently, the results come naturally.
CAFonline.com: Do you aim to carry that form into AFCON?
Amoura: Certainly. I want to maintain this level throughout the tournament. AFCON is special—every match can change a campaign—so I want to be as ready as possible.
CAFonline.com: Algeria face a tough Group E with Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea and Sudan. How do you assess your chances?
Amoura: We know it’s a strong group with very respectable teams. We respect everyone, but we fear no one. We have a balanced squad with outstanding players and we will prove our value on the pitch.
CAFonline.com: What are Algeria’s overall objectives at AFCON Morocco 2025?
Amoura: Our goal is clear: go deep into the tournament and represent Algeria in the best possible way. We want to make our fans happy and, God willing, fight for the title—but that requires focus and taking it step by step.

CAFonline.com: In your view, what will be the key to Algeria’s success and where does your strength lie?
Amoura: The key is team spirit. We have a talented generation, but our real strength is our unity and solidarity on and off the field.
CAFonline.com: What message do you have for Algerian supporters before AFCON—and what do you promise them?
Amoura: Our dear fans are our source of strength. We feel your support everywhere. We promise to fight in every match so that, God willing, we can all be proud of Algeria.
