Angola defeat Malawi in race for place at TotalEnergies CAF AFCON PAMOJA 2027
Angola claimed their first win of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027 qualifiers when they defeated Southern African rivals Malawi 3-1 in Luanda to complete the Matchday 2 fixtures on Tuesday.
The victory takes Angola to four points from their opening two matches, level with Group B leaders Egypt, who are ahead of them by virtue of a better goal difference.
Malawi remain on three points after they were unable to build on their opening-day victory over South Sudan.
The next edition of the continental finals will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from 19 June to 17 July 2027.
Angola took an early lead when Milson scored inside three minutes before Mabululu doubled the advantage late in the first half.
But Malawi found a way back into the game when they forced Kialonda Gaspar to put the ball into his own net, leaving them 2-1 behind at the break.
Angola made the points safe, though, as Miro added a third 20 minutes from the end to complete a convincing home victory and leave them unbeaten after their opening two qualifiers.
Angola next face back-to-back home-and-away fixtures against South Sudan in November, while Malawi will take on Egypt in their next two matches.
