CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe meets with match officials at TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025

The President of the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), Dr Patrice Motsepe, has met with match officials selected for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025, underlining the central role they will play in delivering a successful tournament.

The meeting brought together referees, assistant referees and Video Assistant Referee (VAR) officials drawn from across the continent.

It provided an opportunity for the CAF President to engage directly with the officials and reaffirm CAF’s expectations around professionalism, integrity and excellence.

Dr Motsepe congratulated the officials on their selection, describing it as recognition of their consistent performances and dedication over many years.

He stressed that officiating standards at TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025 must continue to reflect the progress of African football on the global stage, with fairness, consistency and respect for the Laws of the Game at the heart of every match.

CAF’s Refereeing Department outlined the intensive preparation programme undertaken in the build-up to the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025, including technical workshops, fitness assessments and detailed VAR training.

Emphasis has also been placed on uniform decision-making, match management and clear communication on the field.

The meeting concluded with a strong message of unity and purpose, as CAF continues its commitment to raising refereeing standards across Africa.
