·       Several groups finely balanced after opening two rounds as qualification race approaches halfway stage

The road to the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) PAMOJA 2027 intensifies in November when Africa’s national teams return for Matchdays 3 and 4 of the qualifying campaign.

A packed programme between 12 and 17 November 2026 will take the group phase beyond the halfway point, with several early leaders facing direct rivals in back-to-back fixtures that could significantly shape the qualification picture.

After two rounds, Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, South Africa, DR Congo, Rwanda, Mali and Guinea-Bissau are among the teams to have made strong starts, while several other groups remain tightly contested.

One of the headline encounters comes in Group C, where Côte d’Ivoire and Gambia, both on six points, meet in Bouaké before the return fixture in Bakau. Ghana, without a point after two matches, face Somalia twice in fixtures that will prove vital to their hopes of reviving their campaign.

Group K also features a meeting of perfect starters, with Mali and Rwanda both on six points ahead of their double-header in Bamako and Kigali.

In Group J, Senegal and Mozambique lead with four points each, with Sudan only one point behind. Senegal’s meetings with Sudan and Mozambique’s back-to-back fixtures against Ethiopia could shape one of the closest sections.

Morocco will seek to maintain their perfect start in Group A when they face Niger twice, while Egypt and Angola remain level on four points in Group B, with Malawi close behind on three.

South Africa, who have collected maximum points in Group D, face co-hosts Kenya, led by former Bafana Bafana striker Benni McCarthy, while DR Congo will look to protect their perfect record in Group E against Sierra Leone.

Elsewhere, Groups F, G, H and I remain open, with only small margins separating the leading teams. Cameroon, Uganda and Algeria currently lead their respective sections, while Benin and Burkina Faso are level at the top of Group F.

In Group L, Guinea-Bissau lead with six points, while Nigeria are second on three ahead of their two meetings with co-hosts Tanzania.

Co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda are automatically qualified for the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON PAMOJA 2027 regardless of their finishing positions.

In groups featuring a co-host, the highest-placed other team will qualify for the finals, while in the remaining groups the top two teams qualify.

The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027 will be staged in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from 19 June to 17 July 2027.
