Published:

Both Burkina Faso and Sudan have advanced from Group E of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 but this meeting at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca will decide where they are placed in the group. Kick-off is at 17h00 local time (16h00 GMT).

This will be just the second competitive meeting between the two nations and their first clash at the AFCON finals since 2012.

Sudan head coach Kwesi Appiah previously faced Burkina Faso at the AFCON while in charge of Ghana, losing a 2013 semi-final encounter that ended 1–1 before the Black Stars were defeated 3–2 on penalties.

The sides’ only previous meeting came on matchday three of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. Sudan claimed a 2–1 victory thanks to a brace from Mudhather Karika, while Issiaka Ouédraogo scored a late consolation goal for Burkina Faso.

Sudan progressed from Group B alongside Côte d’Ivoire, who finished as group winners, while Burkina Faso ended bottom of the group.
