Sihlangu launch operation 11 points

Swaziland coach, Pieter De Jongh, plunges into his competitive assignment away to Niger in a Group J Day One clash on Saturday in Niamey.

Naming his first squad dominated by players from Total CAF Confederation Cup Group campaigners - Mbabane Swallows, De Jongh has set a target of 11 points from the group that also has Egypt and Tunisia.

“I have studied Niger, and I know what to expect. I saw them in Rwanda before I came here and I have also surfed for the latest information about them. We are going for a win or a draw to give ourselves a good chance. We can’t panic as there are 18 points to play for and this is the first game,” the Dutchman said.

Sihlangu will be hoping to better on the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations near miss as they search for that elusive maiden continental soccer finals appearance and a positive result in Niamey could prove the pinnacle of the campaign.

A 29-member delegation comprising of 20 players, technical staff and officials, left Mbabane on Wednesday en route to South Africa for Niamey.
