Located southwest of the city of Tangier, the Grand Stadium of Tangier is one of the jewels of Moroccan football. Inaugurated in 2011, it is named after the famous 14th-century traveller, an emblematic figure of the city of the Strait.
With its capacity increased to 68,000 seats, including more than 7,000 reserved for the press and 500 for VIP guests, the venue ranks among the largest stadiums in the Kingdom. Built at a cost of around 80 million euros, it is today the home of Ittihad of Tangier and benefits from modern infrastructure meeting international standards which include a 600 m² media center, a medical room, 17 access gates, and a parking area that can accommodate 7,500 vehicles. Its strategic location — 10 km from the city centre, close to Tangier Airport (4 km) and Tangier-Ville train station (10 km) — makes it easily accessible for fans as well as delegations.
Since its inauguration, the Grand Stadium of Tangier has established itself as a major stage for international football. It has hosted major competitions such as the Trophée des Champions in 2011 (LOSC – Marseille) and in 2017 (PSG – Monaco), the Spanish Super Cup in 2018 (FC Barcelona – Sevilla), and the FIFA Club World Cup 2022, marked by Al Hilal’s victory over Flamengo in the semi-final.
The Tangier venue has also welcomed the U-23 Africa Nations Championship in 2011 and several prestigious international fixtures, including Morocco – Argentina in 2019 and the remarkable victory of the Atlas Lions over Brazil (2–1) in March 2023.
TotalEnergies CAF AFCON 2025 matches in Tangier
As part of the TotalEnergies CA Africa Cup of Nations 2025, the Grand Stadium of Tangier will be one of the major venues of the competition. It will host three group-stage matches, a Round of 16 match, a quarter-final, and a semi-final:

- Match 19: 27 December 2025 – Senegal vs DR Congo (Group D, 18:00)
- Match 31: 30 December 2025 – Benin vs Senegal (Group D, 20:30)
- Match 37: 3 January 2025 – 1st Group D vs 3rd Group B/E/F (Round of 16, 18:00)
- Match 45: 9 January 2025 – Winner of Match 38 vs Winner of Match 37 (Quarter-final, 18:00)
- Match 49: 14 January 2025 – Winner of Match 45 vs Winner of Match 48 (Semi-final, 18:00)
