Senegal and Uganda reach the semis

Hosts Senegal reached the semifinals of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations, after beating Tanzania 3-1 on Wednesday in Saly. The result meant Senegal topped Group A, while Uganda finished second to secure the semifinals second ticket.

In a three-way group, Uganda waited for Wednesday result with 3 points in hand. Senegal’s win meant the title holders topped the group on six points, while Tanzania trailed pointless.

A brace from Mamadou Sylla and a goal from Babacar Fall gave Senegal victory, despite falling to the opening goal from Tanzania’s Stephano Walles Mapunda.

Tanznia exited the group stage for the second consecutive time after having the same fate in Egypt 2018 edition.

Meanwhile, Uganda will face Mozambique in the semifinals in a “battle of debutants”, as both sides are having their maiden Beach Soccer AFCON appearance.

Hosts and defending champions Senegal will face Morocco hoping to reach their third consecutive final. Both games will take place on Friday 28 May.
