Barcelona starlet Manneh in Gambia squad
Gambia coach, Sang John Ndong, has named Barcelona teenager Alasana Manneh in his 20-man squad to face Benin in a Group D Day One clash away in Cotonou.
The youngster was part of the Spanish giants’ squad that played in the UEFA Youth League last season following his elevation from the U-19s.
Swansea City’s Modou Barrow and China-based Bubacarr Trawally have also been named in the squad which also sees the return of Italy-based forward Ali Sowe after a four year absence.
The Scorpions kicked off a five-day training camp in Ghana last Monday to fine-tune for the Benin tie.
Ndong who is on his second stint as Scorpions boss following his appointment last year is without a competitive win.
Meanwhile, Gambia suffered a 2-1 loss to Ghana’s Team B in a friendly at the Accra Sports Stadium in Accra.
