Barrow headlines Gambia squad for Mauritania double-header

England-based midfielder Modou Barrow has been included in Gambia’s 20-man squad for the 2017 AFCON Group M double-header against Mauritania.
The 23-year old, who plays for Swansea City, made history by becoming the first Gambian to score in the English top flight, the equalizer in a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth two weeks ago.
Barrow is joined in the squad by Mustapha Carayol of Leeds United, on loan from Middlesbrough.
Gambia coach Sang John Ndong appointed last February named six locally based players for the Day 3 clash on Friday, 25 March away in Nouakchott, and the reverse four days later in Banjul.
The local players include goalkeeper Christopher Allen of current league leaders, Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) and Armed Forces' Emil Sambou. The rest are Mass Manga of Hawks and midfield trio Gregory Sambou, Alagie Bah and Lamin Charty of GPA, Real de Banjul and Hawks respectively.
The Scorpions sit third in Group M with one point which was a draw in Durban against South Africa. Cameroon occupies the top spot on six points with Mauritania trailing with three points.
