CAF to host Referees’ Preparation Course for TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations preliminary official list

As planning and preparations continue for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Cote d’Ivoire 2023, CAF’s Refereeing Division will be hosting a preparation course for the pre-selected referees.
The course is scheduled to take place between 11 – 16 October 2023 in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, and forms part of crucial workshops and programmes spearheaded by the various CAF Divisions in preparation for next year’s continental showpiece.
The list consists of 32 Referees, 32 Assistant Referees, 4 VAR Officials as well as six highly experienced Technical & Physical Instructors to ensure that all officials are in the best shape ahead of the competition.
Part of the workshop will include, but not be limited to physical, theoretical and technical tests while also ensuring that all officials are fully up to speed with the Laws of the Game, VAR and other key refereeing matters.
Speaking ahead of the six-day course, CAF Head of Refereeing and Football Technology, Noumandiez Desire Doue said: “We have selected the best referees and technical support from across the continent to ensure that the tournament benefits from the highest standard of officiating. Equally so, it is important that we have such a course and ensure that all our officials are fully equipped and up to speed with the most recent Laws of the Game, VAR and the use of technology.”
“Refereeing plays a crucial part in the success of a competition, and we need to make sure that we are fully prepared”, said Doue.
The selection of referees has been spread far and wide across the continent to ensure that the best referees are present at Africa’s biggest football spectacle next year.
