South African-born coach, Morena Ramoreboli has made a name for himself since making his way to South Africa’s neighbouring country.

Well known for causing upsets against more fancied teams during his time in South Africa, Ramoreboli continues to carry this reputation following his remarkable run with Jwaneng Galaxy in last season’s TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

It was in the same season that they knocked out South African giants, Orlando Pirates before sending shockwaves across the continent with a victory away from home over former champions Wydad Casablanca.

The 44-year-old coach was officially announced as head coach of the Zebras just days before the official draw of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON following an interim position he held where he successfully guided the team to a qualification spot.

Ramorobeli holds a CAF A license and has spent over a decade proving his abilities as a top coach. 

He is of the youngest and few South African coaches to coach beyond the nation’s borders, and has caused major upsets in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League enroute to guiding Jwaneng Galaxy to their first ever group stage appearance last season where they stunned former champions Wydad AC.

Through his TotalEnergies CAF Champions League experience, his evolved his playing style to balance the ability of retaining the ball and also punishing the opposition on the counter when given an opportunity.,

This will be Morena Ramorobeli’s first experience of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations as Botswana make their second appearance at the finals in Morocco.

Fun Fact:

As 44, Ramorobeli will be one of the youngest coaches at the finals in Morocco. Namibia’s Benjamin Colin was the youngest coach in at the 2023 edition in Cote d’Ivoire at age 45.

He is also the youngest coach of the qualified nations from the COSAFA region.
