Morocco secure double triumph at CAF African Schools Football Championship UNAF Qualifiers

Morocco will be represented in both the Boys U-15 and Girls U-15 categories at this season’s CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals after claiming titles in both divisions at the conclusion of the UNAF Qualifiers on Tuesday, 27 January.

The UNAF qualifiers, held in Cairo in a round-robin format, concluded with Morocco being crowned champions in both divisions, earning the right to represent the zone at the Continental Finals scheduled for later this year.

In the Boys U-15 category, Morocco secured the title after collecting a crucial point in a goalless draw against Algeria, followed by a hard-fought 2-0 victory over tournament hosts Egypt.

The Girls U-15 team delivered an equally impressive performance, edging Algeria 1-0 in their opening match before cruising to a 4-0 win against Egypt to seal the title and qualification.

With the UNAF qualifiers now concluded, focus shifts to the UNIFFAC Qualifiers set to take place between 02 - 08 March, which will mark the final leg of qualifiers ahead of this season’s highly anticipated Continental Finals.

Beyond the on-field action in Cairo, the competition was conducted alongside several capacity-building programmes, in line with the competition’s mission to empower and upskill coaches, administrators, and grassroots football stakeholders.

These initiatives remain a cornerstone of the competition’s legacy through promoting holistic growth beyond the football pitch.

The capacity-building activities were headlined by the TotalEnergies Drive the Future Workshop along with the Young Referees, Young Medical Officers, Young Reporters Workshop and CAF Safeguarding Workshops among others.
