WAFU B Zone CAF African Schools Football Championship: Girls' Battle Heats Up in Lome

In a thrilling continuation of the WAFU B Zone edition of the CAF African Schools Football Championship, Friday witnessed an array of exhilarating matches in the girls' competition at the Stade Municipal in Lome, Togo.

The host nation, Togo, set the tone with an impressive 3-0 victory over Nigeria, showcasing their attacking prowess. Following suit, Ghana secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Benin, while Cote d'Ivoire displayed resilience to triumph 2-1 over Nigeria.

The competition intensified as Benin and Togo battled to a goalless draw, highlighting the tenacity of both teams. The clash between Cote d'Ivoire and Benin ended in a goalless stalemate, leaving both sides hungry for a breakthrough.

In a spirited encounter, Ghana and Togo shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw, demonstrating the competitive nature of the tournament.

Ghana then asserted their dominance with a commanding 3-0 victory over Nigeria, who unfortunately forfeited the match.

As the dust settled on the group stage, Ghana emerged as the group leaders, setting the stage for exciting semi-final clashes on Saturday.

After the current hosting in Togo, the championship's journey will continue with upcoming zonal tournaments in UNIFFAC, COSAFA, CECAFA, and WAFU A, culminating in the grand continental climax in 2024.
