Zimbabwe showcases rich heritage in colourful CAF African Schools Football Championship opening ceremony
Zimbabwe delivered memorable cultural showcase during the opening ceremony of the CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals, offering the rest of the continent a glimpse into its heritage.
Organised by the Zimbabwe Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, the ceremony blended tradition, youth and artistic excellence. The Opening Ceremony set the tone for a tournament that unites young talent from across Africa, while highlighting the host nation’s identity.
The ceremony came alive through energetic performances by dancers from the University of Zimbabwe, whose choreography reflected a fusion of traditional and contemporary Zimbabwean dance.
Adding a heartfelt dimension to the event was the participation of children from Dzikua Trust Orphanage.

The ceremony also featured appearances by prominent youth ambassadors and cultural figures, including Miss Teen International Zimbabwe 2024, Toto Miss Africa Zimbabwe, and Miss Tinne Africa Zimbabwe. Their presence highlighted the importance of empowering young leaders and celebrating African excellence across different fields.
In a symbolic gesture of hospitality and cultural pride, the Ministry presented all team captains with authentic Zimbabwean fabric. The gift served not only as a warm welcome but also as a lasting token of the country’s rich textile traditions.
