Pyramids FC striker Ahmed Atef has affirmed that he and his teammates will give their all to win the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League title in the second leg of the final against Mamelodi Sundowns, scheduled for Sunday, 1 June, at the 30 June Air Defence Stadium in Egypt.
Pyramids FC will host South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns in the return leg final after a 1-1 draw in the first leg last week.
The Egyptian side is aiming to secure its first-ever continental title, while their South African opponents are chasing a second continental crown, having first lifted the trophy in 2016.
Atef stressed the importance of securing a victory in the return leg to deliver a historic first title for Pyramids FC and to mark his first piece of silverware with the club.
“We are playing to win the title and will give everything to achieve it. We want to show everyone that we’re capable of becoming champions. Everyone in the team is united, and we are working as one."
The striker continued: “There’s a strong family spirit in the squad, and we’re all feeling something special as we head into the final. God willing, this will be my first trophy with the club."
The 27-year-old also called on all Egyptian fans to rally behind Pyramids FC in the final:
"I hope we get the full support of the Egyptian fans. We’re physically prepared, and we’ll approach the match the right way."
The second leg will be a defining moment in the careers of Ahmed Atef and his teammates, offering a chance to make history and etch their names in gold as the club pursues its first continental triumph.
