Benchikha appointed Simba coach after Oliveira exit

Tanzanian giants Simba SC have appointed Algerian Abdelhak Benchikha as their new head coach following the dismissal of Brazilian Roberto Oliveira.

Simba ended Oliveira's 18-month tenure after a disappointing African Super League elimination by Al Ahly last month.

They quickly moved to appoint Benchikha, who led Algerian club USM Alger to TotalEnergies Confederation Cup glory last season.

Simba announced the acquisition via Facebook, stating: "Welcome to our new coach, Abdelhak Benchikha."

The Algerian took charge of the TotalEnergies Champions League holders for the first time against ASEC Mimosa on Saturday which ended 1-1.

Benchikha resigned from USM Alger earlier this season despite delivering a continental trophy.

Now Simba hope his pedigree can revitalise fortunes after Oliveira departed soon after recent setbacks.

Benchikha boasts over two decades of experience managing prominent African clubs like Club Africain, Raja Casablanca, CS Belouizdad and Berkane.

The arrival of Benchikha signifies their ambition to quickly restore success on both fronts this term.
