CAF unveils new Official CAF Interclub Puma Match Ball ahead of restart of competitions
CAF has unveiled a new Official CAF Interclub Puma Match Ball for the 2025/26 Interclub Competitions as the 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup return this weekend.
The launch coincides with the resumption of the interclubs competition following the conclusion of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, with Matchday 3 marking the halfway stage of the group phase.
The new Official CAF Interclub Puma Match Ball's design draws inspiration from the vibrant and intricate patterns of ankara fabric, celebrating African creativity, diversity and unity while blending cultural expression with elite football performance
The ball will be used for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, beginning with Matchday 3 of the group stages, which kicks off on Friday across venues on the continent.
With two rounds completed before the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON break, the coming fixtures are expected to play a decisive role in shaping the race for the quarter-finals.
The unveiling comes at a symbolic moment, as club football regains centre stage after weeks of continental focus on national teams.
The 2025/26 Official CAF Interclub Puma Match Ball's visual identity reflects African football’s roots and its modern ambitions. Bold geometric patterns represent the interconnectedness of clubs and communities across Africa, while the arrangement of the motifs is designed to symbolise movement, teamwork and growth — values central to CAF’s interclub competitions.
The colour palette combines rich, earthy tones with striking highlights of gold, green and red. Gold represents prestige and excellence, green reflects growth and renewal, while red embodies the passion that defines African club football.
The surface design also ensures optimal visibility on the pitch, with a textured finish that echoes the tactile feel of traditional ankara fabric.
Friday’s restart features record champions Al Ahly hosting Young Africans in Cairo, while later the same day Mamelodi Sundowns welcome Al Hilal Omdurman in Pretoria.
Other high-profile ties follow over the weekend as clubs seek to strengthen their positions or revive qualification hopes.
The new ball is intended to be a unifying symbol of African club football, blending heritage and innovation as the continent’s elite competitions enter a crucial phase of the season.
