Chaâbani confident of Berkane comeback ahead of decisive AS FAR clash
RS Berkane head coach Mouine Chaâbani has expressed strong belief in RS Berkane’s ability to overturn their first-leg deficit as they prepare for a decisive CAF Champions League TotalEnergies semi-final clash.
Berkane were suffered 2-0 defeat to AS FAR in the first leg last weekend, and will be going all out for a positive result in this weekend’s return leg.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s tie, Chaâbani acknowledged the magnitude of the task but insisted his side will give everything to reach the final.
“We are facing a decisive match where one team will advance and the other will be eliminated,” said Chaâbani during the pre-match press conference.
“AS FAR have shown strong performances in the CAF Champions League and possess both experience and stability. It will be an exciting match, and we will do everything possible to qualify. We know the task is not easy against a strong opponent with high-quality players.”
The Tunisian tactician emphasised the mental and physical preparation of his squad, highlighting their determination to respond after the first-leg setback.
“We are playing against both the result and time. We have prepared throughout the week, mentally and physically, and worked to move past the pressure of the first leg. Everyone is ready to give their best in order to qualify,” he added.
Goalkeeper Anas Zniti echoed his coach’s ambition, underlining the team’s desire to lift the continental title.
“I have long aimed to win the CAF Champions League. If it does not happen, that is part of football - many great players have not won multiple titles,” Zniti said.
“But I will give everything on the pitch to help the team qualify. If we do not succeed, then that is football.”
Saturday’s encounter promises to be a thrilling contest between two well-matched sides, with qualification likely to be decided by fine margins.
