Mamelodi Sundowns defender Grant Kekana confident of completing the job in Rabat

Mamelodi Sundowns are confident they can complete the job when they take on AS FAR in the second leg of the final of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League 2025/26 in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday (kick-off 20h00 local time / 19h00 GMT).

The South African side hold a 1-0 lead from the first leg in Pretoria last weekend, but will face a fired-up home side in front of a passionate set of supporters.

Sundowns defender Grant Kekana says the squad is settled in Morocco and are confident they can complete the task at hand.

“The team is good. Everyone is hyped up,” he said. “We know what's at stake. And I think mentally we're in a good place. We're trying to just fix a few things so that we go there on Sunday, fully prepared, but the boys are up for it.”

Sundowns fell short in the second leg of last year’s final away at Pyramids FC in Egypt and Kekana says they have learnt from that difficult experience.

“We're not too focused on what could have been done back then. We're focused on the future and the present. We don't want any distractions, any negativity surrounding us, and we want to go into the game as positive as possible.”

Sundowns were last champions in 2016 and Kekana says they are highly-motivated to add a second star to the jersey.

“We’d obviously love it, but nothing is guaranteed. We also not entitled to anything,” he said. “Ours is to do the work. Pray hard also. But put ourselves in a position where we're able to achieve that. It's not easy being here. We know the road that it took for us to get here, and now it’s just to leave everything on the field.

“Whatever happened in the past happened. I think it is part of the experience, part of the journey for us being here. And right now, we're just being as positive as possible. We just want to leave everything on the field, but the mood in camp has been very good. The guys are motivated for Sunday. “

Sundowns missed several good chances to extend their advantage in the first leg, but Kekana says that is in the past.

“We would have loved to score as many goals as we could, especially back home. But I think the lads put out a solid shift, and it's going to be no different this side. The only difference is that we're away from home.

“But the effort, that determination, the hunger, the will to win is still there from the guys.”
