TotalEnergies CAF Champions League action continued on Saturday, 02 December as Match Day 2 of the group stages of Africa’s most coveted club football competition continues across the continent.

After a comfortable victory at home against Nouadhibou last weekend, the high-flying Mamelodi Sundowns travelled to Lubumbashi to face DR Congo’s TP Mazembe in a Group A encounter on Saturday afternoon.

In Mazembe, the South Africans were up against a side that was still reeling from a narrow 1-0 defeat suffered at the hands of Pyramids FC in Egypt and had a victory as their only target at home.

With the match evenly tied in the opening half, the hosts eventually found the only goal of the match at the hour mark courtesy of Glody Likonza to secure the much-needed victory for the five-time champions who are looking at reclaiming their dominance on the continent.

Meanwhile in Botswana, another Southern African side was in action as Jwaneng Galaxy, who were in high spirits following their famous victory over Wydad Athletic Club last weekend faced East African giants, Simba Athletic Club in Gaborone.

Desperate for a win in their second game was Simba following last weekend’s 1-1 stalemate against Asec Mimosas, they were held to an evenly balanced 0-0 draw by the Botswanan champions who temporarily occupy the summit of Group B ahead of Saturday evening’s matches.
