Ndiaye relying on home support to rally them against Sundowns

TP Mazembe head coach, Lamine Ndiaye says playing in front of their home crowd should serve as motivation to rally them over the line when facing Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

The DR Congo giants face the in-form Sundowns in a TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Group A encounter in Lubumbashi in a must-win match for Mazembe who suffered a 1-0 loss against Pyramids last weekend.

Speaking on Friday, ahead of the big encounter, the Senegalese born coach said he believed they could get the result, more especially with the backing of the crowd.

“We will do everything to achieve a good result against Mamelodi (Sundowns). Especially since we are going to play in front of our crowd, on whom we are counting,” said the coach.

Touching on his side’s match fitness, Ndiaye was not too worried about not having played during the week, saying that it was a good time for them to rectify their mistakes.

"We played eight matches in one month. Us not playing during the week is a good thing for the team because we were able to correct some mistakes made in previous matches," said Ndiaye.

Kick off in Lubumbashi is at 13h00 GMT.
