Procedures for 2024/25 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Quarter-Final Draw to be held on Thursday, 20 February

The draw for the Quarter-Finals and Semi-finals of the 2024/25 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League will be staged at the beIN SPORTS studios in Doha, Qatar on Thursday, 20 February.

The draw will be at 17h00 Cairo time/ 15h00 GMT/ 18h00 East Africa Time/MECCA and will be live on CAF TV.

The four pool winners from the group stage will be seeded teams, and will be drawn against one of the pool runners-up, though they cannot meet the club from their group in the last phase.

Following the Quarter-Final draw, the teams will also learn their potential Semi-Final opponents when that draw is conducted directly afterwards. 

The Quarter-Finals will be played over two legs, with the first leg of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League scheduled for 1 April and 8 April, 2025,

THE POTS

Pot 1: Al Ahly (Egypt), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), MC Alger (Algeria), Pyramids FC (Egypt)
Pot 2: Al Hilal (Sudan)
Pot 3: AS FAR (Morocco)
Pot 4: Orlando Pirates (South Africa)
Pot 5: Esperance Sportive de Tunis (Tunisia)

THE QUARTER-FINAL DRAW PROCEDURE

Step 1: A ball will be picked from the runners-up pot (Pot 1) and the team drawn shown.

Step 2: One ball will be picked from each of the other pots (Pots 2, 3, 4 & 5), except the Pot that has the team that played in the same group of the runner-up team drawn in step 1 (to avoid having two teams from the same group playing each other).

Step 3: The selected balls in Step 2 are put in the empty pot (Pot 6).

Step 4: One ball will be selected to determine the team who will face the runner up drawn in Step 1 for Quarterfinal 1 (QF1).

Step 5: The same process will be repeated three more times in order to determine the remaining fixtures for Quarterfinal 2 (QF2), Quarterfinal 3 (QF3) and Quarterfinal 4 (QF4), while eliminating the pot of the ball drawn in Step 4.

THE SEMI-FINAL DRAW PROCEDURE
Step 1: One single pot will contain four balls for QF1, QF2, QF3 and QF4.

Step 2: The first two balls drawn will play each other in SF1. The ball drawn first will play the first match at home and the ball drawn second will play the return match at home.

Step 3: The last two balls in the pot will play each other in SF2. The ball drawn first will play the first match at home and the ball drawn second will play the return match at home.
