Pyramids overcome Esperance in tight duel, Sagrada Esperança edge Djoliba

A tightly contested TotalEnergies CAF Champions League North African duel between Pyramids FC and Esperance concluded with the Egyptians taking the three points, following a hard-fought 2-1 win over last season's runners-up.

With the tie going into the break goalless, the visitors opened the scoring in the 56^th minute courtesy of Mohamed Belaili’s strike.

With a win well in sight for the Tunisians’ late drama unfolded as Mostafa Fathi found the equaliser in the 90^thminute, a late goal that spurred the hosts further to find a dramatic winner in the referee’s additional time thanks to Ibrahim Adel’s late winner.

Pyramids’ dramatic win sees them tied on seven points with the table leaders Esperance.

In a simultaneous Group D fixture, Sagrada Esperança edged Djoliba 1-0 to gain ground with a much-needed victory.
