RS Berkane completes the double over Star Sport to reach TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Group Stage

Morocco’s Renaissance Sportive de Berkane secured their place in the 2026-27 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League group stage after completing the double over Sierra Leone’s Star Sport Academy, beating them 1-0 on Saturday at the Berkane Municipal Stadium, to repeat their 2-0 away victory last weekend.

Youssef Mehri scored what proved to be the game’s lone goal after 54 minutes as Berkane cruised to the group stage with an aggregate 3-0 win.

After a goalless first half, Mehri made the best of his chance nine minutes after the break to give “The Orange Boys” a well-deserved win that sent them to the prestigious group stage.

Berkane, three-time TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup champions, reached the 16-team group stage for the second year running in just their second appearance in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

Led by Cape Verdean coach Bubista, they will now look to go farther in the continent’s premier clubs’ competition.
