Siaka Tiene, Ahmed Hassan, Daniel Bennet confirmed as TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup Draw Assistants

With less than 24-hours to go before the Official Draw of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup on Tuesday, CAF has confirmed three African football legends as the Draw Assistants for both draws.
Ivorian legend, Siaka Tiene and Egyptian icon, Ahmed Hassan will be joined by veteran South African former referee, Daniel Bennet as the two Draw Assistants.
Both competitions will have their respective Quarter-Finals draws conducted in Cairo on Tuesday afternoon where the exciting knockout stages of the competition will officially be outlined by the two African football legends.
Tiene, who played as a left-back for Cote d’Ivoire in their TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2015 triumph has represented the Elephants 96 times.
The 42-year-old who played for Asec Mimosas and Mamelodi Sundowns - who are both in contention for this year’s CAF Champions League title enjoyed a club football successful career that includes him plying his trade for Paris Saint-Germain and Montpellier in France amongst others.
Well remembered for his TotalEnergies AFCON wonder-strike in the final against South Africa in 1998, Egyptian football legend, Ahmed Hassan also enjoyed great success in CAF competitions - with the most notable being a TotalEnergies CAF AFCON gold medal in 1998, as well as a CAF Champions League triumph with Al Ahly SC in 2008.
The now 48-year-old Hassan represented the Pharaohs 184 times, scoring 33 in a career that stretched from 1995 to 2012.
Bennet (46) is no stranger to CAF competitions, with his list of officiating achievements before his 2019 retirement highlighted by a number of CAF Inter-Club finals, AFCON and CHAN competitions, as well as FIFA World Cup assignments.
The South African veteran referee has officiated five CAF Inter-club finals which include the 2002 and 2006 Confederation Cup Finals, 2004 and 2011 CAF Super Cup finals as well as the 2010 CAF Champions League final.
Post his CAF-Interclub officiating experience, Bennet went on to officiate in the 2010 TotalEnergies CAF AFCON semi-finals between Nigeria and Ghana, as well as the 2012 edition where Cote d’Ivoire played Mali in the semi-finals.
The TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup remain Africa’s most sought-after club competitions, with both competitions enjoying unprecedented success and record-breaking global TV audiences in the last few seasons.
