Simba SC, Sundowns comfortably secure TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Group stage spots
Tanzanian heavyweights Simba SC have secured their place in the group stages of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League after holding Nsingizini Hotspurs to a goalless draw in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.
The result was enough for the Tanzanian giants to progress with a 3-0 aggregate victory, following their convincing win in Eswatini last weekend.
Despite being unable to find the back of the net in front of their home fans, Simba displayed composure and tactical discipline to protect their first-leg advantage. The Tanzanian side now turns its focus to the prestigious group phase, where they will aim to build on last season’s impressive continental campaign and reaffirm their status among Africa’s elite clubs.

Joining Simba in the next round are South African champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, who continued their dominant run with a 2-0 win over Nigeria’s Remo Stars in Tshwane. The result sealed a 7-1 aggregate triumph, underlining the Brazilians’ attacking firepower and consistency in Africa’s premier club competition.
With both Simba SC and Mamelodi Sundowns advancing, the group stage draw, set for Monday, 02 November in Johannesburg is gradually taking shape.
