TotalEnergies CAF Champions League: AS FAR hold Hafia FC as Power Dynamos secure vital away win against Vipers
The first-leg fixtures of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League second preliminary round, delivered intense encounters marked by balance and determination across the continent.
Morocco’s AS FAR earned a valuable away draw against Guinea’s Hafia FC, while Zambia’s Power Dynamos claimed an impressive away victory over Uganda’s Vipers SC to take a major step toward the group stage.
Hafia FC (GUI) 1–1 AS FAR (MAR)
AS FAR Rabat stood firm in Conakry, holding Hafia FC to a 1–1 draw in a tightly contested battle.
The home side took the lead in the 21st minute through Lansana Sylla, before substitute Hamza Khaba restored parity for the Moroccan champions in the 66th minute. The result leaves AS FAR well placed ahead of the decisive return leg in Rabat.
Vipers SC (UGA) 1–2 Power Dynamos (ZAM)
Power Dynamos produced a commanding away performance to edge Vipers SC 2–1 in Kampala.
After a goalless first half, Junior Sentamu opened the scoring for the visitors in the 48th minute, followed by Moses Shumah, who doubled the lead five minutes later. Vipers pulled one back in the 77th minute through an own goal, but the Zambian champions held on for a precious victory.
With these results, AS FAR and Power Dynamos head into next weekend’s return legs in strong positions. The Moroccan side will look to capitalize on home advantage in Rabat, while the Zambians aim to complete their qualification for the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League group stage.
