TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Preliminary Round first legs set up decisive return fixtures
The first preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League produced a weekend of narrow wins, away victories and closely fought draws, with clubs now preparing for the second and deciding fixtures this coming weekend.
Pyramids FC made one of the strongest starts, winning 2-0 away to Gor Mahia, while Al Hilal Omdurman, Simba SC and TP Mazembe also secured valuable away victories. Zamalek won 2-1 at Ports, and Wiliete Benguela recorded the biggest win of the round, beating Foresters FC 4-0.
Several ties remain finely balanced after 1-1 draws involving San Pedro and Rivers United, Gaborone United and Young Africans, ASKO Kara and ASEC Mimosas, and Enugu Rangers and AS Sobemap. Orlando Pirates were held to a goalless draw by La Cure Waves in Mauritious, while Colombe and Stade Malien also finished 0-0.
The action resumes this weekend with the second and deciding fixtures, as the clubs look to secure their places in the next round.
