Young Africans revival buries 10-man Medeama

Tanzanian giants Young Africans revived their TotalEnergies CAF Champions League hopes with an emphatic 3-0 home victory over 10-man Medeama on Wednesday.

Pacome Zouzoua broke the deadlock for the hosts after 31 minutes before second half strikes from Bakari Mwamnyeto and Mudathiri Yahya sealed the win.

The result leaves Young Africans second in Group D on goal difference behind leaders Al Ahly heading into the final two rounds.

It was a very different story for bottom side Medeama, who saw Jonathan Sowah sent off late on to compound a miserable night after receiving his second yellow card of the match.

The heavy loss leaves the Ghanaian outfit on four points and facing a battle to progress into the knockout stage.

Young Africans coach Miguel Angel Gamondi hailed his team's impressive performance insisting it has revived their campaign.
"It was one of the best games we have played this campaign. We analyzed our game and played real football in all aspects," Gamondi said in the post match press conference.
"We have given our fans happiness and that’s what football is all about. I told the players to believe as we searched for a win today. I’m more than happy for the answers today."
Medeama trianer Evans Augustine Adotey admitted they failed to live up to expectation but insists they will fight to the end of the group stage.
"Our ambition to get three points today have failed. We have two more games and we shall assess the situation," the cooach of the Ghanaian side told the media.
"We shall fight for the remaining six points. Young Africans deserved the win but we could have avoided tel he three  goals."

With Al Ahly facing crunch clashes with group opponents Medeama and Young Africans, the Tanzanian club will fancy their chances of hunting down the Egyptians.
