Al Ahly cruises to the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup groups in style, AS FAR complete the pack
Egyptian giants Al Ahly cruised to the 2026-27 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage in style, beating Uganda’s FC Kitara 4-0 on Sunday in Cairo to complete a 6-1 aggregate victory and secure their spot in Wednesday’s draw.
After coming back from Hoima with a 2-1 victory last weekend, the “Red Devils” proved to be too much for their Ugandan visitors, scoring four without reply at the Cairo International Stadium on the night.
Hussein El Shahat opened the scoring for Al Ahly after 38 minutes, capitalising on Kitara’s goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa blunder to send a lobing ball over his head to the net.
A minute before halftime, Mohamed Magdi “Afsha” doubled Al Ahly lead when he scored from a close range after Taher Mohamed dispossessed Kitara’s defence the ball as Al Ahly went to the break leading 2-0 and cruising to victory.

El Shahat completed his personal brace after 52 minutes, with a right footed screamer from inside the box.
And it soon became 4-0 when Taher headed home from a close range, making the best of substitute Ahmed Eid cross, as Al Ahly completed a 6-1 aggregate win to seal their spot in the group stage.

Historic qualification for ASKO
Meanwhile, Togolese ASKO de Kara achieved a historic qualification to the Group Stage for the first time in their history, beating Mali’s AS Diarra 1-0 at Kegue Stadium in Lome, to qualify on away goals rule after a 3-3 aggregate draw.
Having lost the first leg 3-2 last weekend in Bamako, ASKO scored the game’s lone goal six minutes into first half’s injury time, and they kept the lead to achieve a historic qualification.
Two in a row for Singida Black Stars
In Chamazi, Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Kenyan side Tusker, but the Tanzanians qualified after achieving an away 1-0 victory last weekend to reach the group stage for the 2nd year running.
The hosts took the lead after 67 minutes to go 2-0 up on aggregate. Victor Mbaoma equalized for Tusker after 81 minutes but that was not enough to save the Kenyans from an early exit.
Singida Black Stars will now look to better their group stage appearance that saw them trailing their group with just one win.

AS FAR complete the group stage pack
Morocco’s AS FAR became the last side to qualify to the group stage after defeating Cote d’Ivoire CO Korhogo 2-1 at Prince Moulay Abdallah Stadium in Rabat
Last season TotalEnergies CAF Champions League losing finalists AS FAR took an early lead when they were awarded a penalty after just five minutes. From the spot, Youssef El Fahli made no mistake to put the hosts ahead.
But the visitors CO Korhogo shocked their hosts after the break when Diby Berneger scored the equalizer after 54 minutes to make it 1-1 in the night and on aggregate.
AS FAR threw everything in attack and finally got the goal they were looking for at the 83rd minute when defender Anas Bach headed home from a close range to restore his side’s lead as they went to complete the group stage pack.
