HISTORY

USM Alger’s record in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup

Winners: 2023

USM Alger won their first TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup title in 2023 after overcoming Young Africans in the final. In the final of the 2023 edition, the Algiers side faced Tanzania’s Young Africans SC. After securing a 2-1 victory in the first leg, the Red and Blacks lost 1-0 in the return match. However, thanks to the away goals rule, they went on to win their very first CAF Confederation Cup title.

Zamalek’s record in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup

Winners: 2019 and 2024

Zamalek’s first title came in the 2018/19 season. After losing the first leg 1-0 to RS Berkane, the Cairo side responded in the return fixture and took the tie to a tense penalty shoot-out, which they eventually won 5-3.

In 2024, history repeated itself against the same opponents. Zamalek lost 2-1 in Morocco but won 1-0 at home in Cairo. That was enough to secure the title on the away goals rule, giving them a second Confederation Cup crown after another dramatic final.
