Belouizdad sink Hafia to reach TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup group stage

CR Belouizdad booked their place in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup group stage with a controlled 2–0 home win over Guinea’s Hafia, sealing the tie 3–1 on aggregate in Algiers.

After a goalless first half, the Algerian champions raised the tempo and struck twice within 14 minutes through Amir Meziane and Lamine Boussouar to end Hafia’s challenge.

The result follows last week’s 1–1 draw away, where Belouizdad earned the platform they needed to finish the job in front of their supporters.

Belouizdad were patient early on, circulating the ball and probing down both flanks without overcommitting.

Hafia, compact and disciplined, looked to play on the counter and limit space between the lines, a plan that held firm through a tight opening 45 minutes that produced few clear chances.

The hosts came out after the interval with greater purpose, pushed higher and moved the ball quicker through midfield, immediately pinning the Guinean side back.

The breakthrough arrived on 54 minutes. A sweeping move down the right ended with a cut-back into the area where Abderrahmane Meziane met the cross first time, steering a composed finish beyond the goalkeeper to make it 1–0 on the night and tilt the aggregate firmly in Belouizdad’s favour.

The goal unlocked the game. Hafia were forced to step forward in search of an equaliser and Belouizdad exploited the spaces that followed.

On 68 minutes, Lotfi Boussouar doubled the lead with a crisp effort, arriving late on the edge of the box to guide the ball into the corner.

At 2–0, and 3–1 across the two matches, Belouizdad managed the remainder expertly: recycling possession, slowing the tempo when required and denying Hafia any momentum.

The visitors continued to fight and carved a half-chance from a set play, but the Algerian back line—well-marshalled and aggressive in duels—kept the clean sheet intact.

The final whistle confirmed a professional two-leg performance from Belouizdad, built on an away draw and a clinical second half at home.

They now advance to the Confederation Cup group phase with confidence and defensive solidity—qualities that will be vital in a competition where margins are slim.
