CAF Interclub Player of the Week: Youssef Zghoudi

Winger Youssef Zghoudi scored two goals inside 15 minutes to help Moroccan side RS Berkane to a 3-1 victory over Stellenbosch FC in a TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Group B clash in Durban on Sunday, the first time he has found the back of the net since June.
Zghoudi gave last year’s beaten finalists a fast start in what was always going to be a tricky away tie, even if Stellenbosch are making their debut in African club competition this year.
It was an eye-catching performance from the right-winger, who scored both his goals with his head rather than his feet.
He will hope to carry that form forward now, and find the back of the net in the Botola Pro, where he has yet to score so far this campaign in 10 appearances (four starts).
Zghoudi has largely been a stalwart for Berkane since he joined the first team in the 2019/20 season, and grabbed three goals and two assists on the way to helping the team to the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup final last season, where they were beaten by Zamalek on the away goals rule.
He featured in all their group games, and the second leg of their quarter-final against Abu Salim Club, but then did not appear again until the second leg of the final in Cairo.
Zghoudi has featured in every TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup game this campaign and has now managed his first two goals.
It is the first time in his career that he has scored a brace in a fixture in a major competition.
