Contrasting views from the managers ahead of Academica do Lobito and Club Africain clash

TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup action resumes on Sunday with one of the interesting ties to look out for being Tunisia’s Club Africain playing against Angola’s Academica do Lobito who will be at home.

The Tunisians have been absent for the past six editions of the competition and got their campaign off to a great start with a 2-0 win over Ghana’s Dreams FC last week.

The opponents played their first group stages match last weekend and were defeated 3-0 by Nigeria’s Rivers FC.

The Group C match has set up what should be an interesting tie between the two sides as they push towards a place in the knockout stages of the competition.

Speaking ahead of the encounter set to take place on Sunday, the coaches had some contrasting views on their match with each coach not wanting to give out too much ahead of the important clash.

What the coaches had to say:

"We are new to the competition compared to our opponents but after a defeat in the previous round, we want to take our first points and nothing better than taking them at home. This is why we are asking our supporters to come in their numbers and push us to the victory,” said Carlos Sambaka, Academica do Lobito coach.

“We do not know much about our opponent, apart from what we saw in their previous match in Nigeria. It will be difficult, but we want to win and God willing, we will”, declared Club Africain coach, Saibi Said.

Kick-off on Sunday is at 16h00 GMT.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian side Dreams FC will be hoping for their first points in the giroup stage of the competition when they take on Rivers United in the group's other day.

The Nigerian side have five Ghanaians in their squad and hope they can help them overcome Dreams FC in the match to be played in Kumasi.

What the coaches had to say:

Dreams FC coach Karim Zito

"We had some few lack of experiences but after doing it for sometime, we have gained the experience and definitely we are here to win the game. We are not playing for playing sake but to make meaningful impact," Dreams FC coach Karim Zito.
"I don’t think Rivers United having five Ghanaian players in their set up will be a worry for us because we have our plans and we know how we will handle them."
Rivers United coach Stanley Eguma
"It is a competition where every game count and you make sure you take positives from every game and build on it," Rivers United coach Stanley Eguma.
