Etoile du Sahel, Safi and Stade Tunisien progress in TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup

Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel and Stade Tunisien, alongside Morocco’s Olympique Safi, all sealed their places in the second preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.
Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy also advanced after a dramatic penalty shootout.
Etoile cruise past Ahly Madani
Etoile du Sahel swept aside Sudan’s Ahly Madani 3-0 in Sousse to complete a 3-1 aggregate victory. Rayan Annan struck early in the 7th minute before Salah Eddine Ghedmassi doubled the lead late on.
Fadi Ben Chouk added a third in stoppage time to cap a comfortable night for the Tunisians, who look strong contenders in the competition.
Safi hit five to ease through
Morocco’s Olympique Safi made light work of Niger’s Nigelec with a 5-0 win at home, following their narrow 1-0 first-leg success to go through 6-0 on aggregate.
Mohamed Chemlal grabbed a brace inside the opening half-hour, Moussa Kone added a third soon after, and Salah Eddine Rahouli extended the lead in first-half stoppage time.
Al-Sharqi Al-Bahri rounded off the scoring in the 72nd minute to confirm a dominant display. Safi will now meet Stade Tunisien in the next round.
Stade Tunisien hold firm
Stade Tunisien booked their place despite a goalless draw away to Mauritania’s SNIM.
Already 2-0 up from the first leg, the Tunisians survived playing with 10 men for nearly an hour after Aman Ndaw’s red card in the 34th minute.
Their defensive resilience ensured safe passage to the next stage.
Jwaneng Galaxy win shootout
Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy kept their campaign alive after edging Malawi’s Mighty Wonders 7-6 on penalties.
Dynamo Fredericks’ 75th-minute goal levelled the tie 1-1 on aggregate, forcing spot-kicks. Galaxy held their nerve to progress in dramatic fashion.
Al Zamala Advance to Second Round
In a dramatic turn of events, Al Zamala SC secured their place in the next round after a 2–1 victory over Dekedaha FC in the second leg of their second preliminary round tie. They overturned a 1–0 deficit from the first leg, with the aggregate score now standing at 2–1 in favour of Al Zamala SC. Al Zamala's progression marks a significant achievement for Sudanese football with the civil war in the country.
