Ferroviário, Leopards and KMKM advance to CAF Confederation Cup Second Preliminary Round

The battle for continental success continued on Friday, 26 September, as the second legs of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup First Preliminary Round unfolded.

With margins tight and drama inevitable, a few ties were settled early while many others head into decisive showdowns on Saturday and Sunday.

In Maputo, Ferroviário de Maputo delivered under pressure, edging AS Fanalamanga 2-1 on the night to win 3-2 on aggregate and book their passage into the next round.

Meanwhile, Royal Leopards lit up Mbabane with a crushing 5-0 victory over Young Africans of Namibia, sealing a commanding 7-0 aggregate scoreline.

Over in Zanzibar, KMKM held firm at home against Port (Djibouti), winning 2-1 and advancing 4-2 on aggregate. These three clubs now join the list of confirmed qualifiers to the Second Preliminary Round.

TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup action continues on over the weekend with mouth-watering ties that will be tightly contested.

South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs trail 1–0 on aggregate against Angola’s Kabuscorp who held on firm for a famous victory in Luanda last week. 

Étoile du Sahel also face a 1–0 deficit to Madani, San Pedro hold a slender 1–0 overall advantage while Académie de FAD and Génération Foot drew 1–1 in their first leg.

Zambia’s Zesco United will be aiming to reverse a 2–0 first-leg loss to FC Libreville while Azam carry a 2–0 lead into the second leg, and several others sit on knife-edge margins. Every goal this weekend will carry weight.
