Key statistics from the second leg of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2025/26 final

USM Alger claimed the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2025/26 trophy with a 7-8 penalty shoot-out win over Zamalek in Cairo on Saturday.

Zamalek won the second leg of the final 1-0, which left the aggregate score at 1-1 and required a shoot-out to separate the teams.

Below are some of the key numbers and outstanding individual performances from the second leg. 

0.89 – Zamalek had the higher expected goals (xG) in the game with 0.89 compared to 0.63 for USM Alger.

1 – USM Alger had a single shot on target in the 90 minutes, which came from Ahmed Khaldi. This was despite them having nine shots in total. Khaldi had six shots in total, the most in the game from a player. Aimé Tendeng and Dramane Kamagate created two chances each, the joint most in the game across both teams. Tendeng also had the joint highest number of passes in the final third with 12.

2 – Zamalek had two shots on target in the 90 minutes and scored from one of them, an early penalty converted by Oday Dabbagh. They had three shots in total. 

3 – USM midfielder Islam Merili made the most successful tackles in the game with three. USM Alger completed 12 successful tackles as a team, while Zamalek managed six. 

4 – USM Alger’s Cameroonian centre-back Che Malone won the most aerial duels with four. His team won 13 in total. Mohamed Ismaeil and Adam Kaied won three each for Zamalek, who had 19 as a team.

6 – Zamalek’s Chico Banza and Juan Alvina attempted the joint most dribbles in the game with six each. Banza completed two and Alvina one. The highest total for a USM Alger player was Tendeng with four attempts, two of which were successful.

61 – Malone completed the most passes in the game with 61. To put that in context, the highest total on the Zamalek side was 26 from midfielder Mohamed Shehata.
