Libyan new boys seek redemption against unbeaten Angolans
Abu Salem coach Ayoub Adrees has demanded focus and fortitude from his players as Libyan rookies Abu Salem chase confidence-boosting redemption in Sunday's TotalEnergiesConfederation Cup clash with unbeaten Angolans Sagrada Esperança.
The Champions League dropouts suffered early heartbreak last weekend, succumbing 1-0 away at Egyptian giants Zamalek in their inaugural continental foray.
Adrees admits the dispiriting defeat left psychological scars but feels Abu Salem have sufficiently grieved and rebuilt battered morale ahead of their Group D home opener.
"Our first outing left its mark. We worked hard on mental aspects to compensate for deficiencies and be ready for Sagrada," stated the coach.
Goalscorer Adrees knows quickly restoring belief against the Angolans is pivotal to reviving Abu Salem's campaign after the early setback.
"We must get focused rapidly and stay concentrated throughout to finally collect our first points and restart here," outlined the striker.
Sagrada assistant coach Roque Sapiri, meanwhile, hopes another three points sets up a comfortable position before they host Zamalek.
He declared preparations are proceeding smoothly in advance of Sunday's Libyan examination following Sagrada's perfect start, saying simply: "The pitch here is very good, victory should go to the team better prepared."
With Sagrada riding momentum while Abu Salem eagerly crave salvation, intrigue builds ahead of this Arab-African showdown to kick off Matchday Two.
