RS Berkane, USM Alger secure away victories, Sekhukhune held by Stade Malien

Former TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup champions, RS Berkane maintained the impressive run in the group stages of the competition after securing another win when they played host to Diables Noirs on Match Day 3 of the group stages on Sunday evening.

A first half goal by Yousseff Zghoudi in the 28th minute coupled with an early second half strike by Mohamed El Mourabit in the 54th minute meant the Moroccans stretch their lead to an impressive five points in Group D with the impressive 2-0 victory at home.

The Moroccans have certainly raised their hand as one of the early favourites of the competition with their 100% winning streak as the group stages reach the halfway mark.

Meanwhile in another Group D match, tournament debutants, Sekhukhune United of South Africa were held to a goalless draw by Stade de Malien on the same evening in a match played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The results sees both sides remain tied on points with 4, while Diables Noirs remains rooted at the bottom with zero points to their name.

In Algeria, defending champions USM Alger also continued their fine form with another win to their name.The reigning champions welcomed Egyptian side, Modern Future to Algers where they managed a narrow 1-0 win thanks to a 65th minute strike by Abdoulaye Kanu to give the Algerians the win.

The result sees USM Alger retain the lead at the top with 9 points, followed by Future with 6, while Al Hilal Benghazi are third with 3 points ahead of SuperSport who remain at the bottom with 0 points.

TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup action resumes on Wednesday, 20 December with Match Day 4 of the group stages taking centre stage, as the race towards a place in the knockout stages continues across the continent.
