San Pedro of Côte d’Ivoire advanced to the group stages of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup after defeating Coton Sport of Cameroon 3-1 in the return leg of their second preliminary round clash on Saturday.

The result secured a 4-1 aggregate victory for the Ivorian side, who continue their impressive continental campaign.

After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, the tie was finely balanced heading into the return fixture.

Coton Sport started brightly and looked determined to make their home advantage count. They took an early lead to raise hopes of progression, but San Pedro quickly regrouped and began asserting control.

The visitors equalised before halftime, shifting momentum in their favour. In the second half, San Pedro’s composure and tactical discipline paid off as they added two more goals to seal a convincing away win. Coton Sport pushed hard to respond, but the Ivorian side’s defensive organisation and quick transitions proved decisive.

The result means San Pedro progress 4-1 on aggregate, confirming their place among Africa’s elite in the group stages. It’s another significant milestone for the Ivorian club, who continue to make their mark on the continental stage.

Coton Sport, one of Cameroon’s most experienced teams in African competitions, will now turn their attention back to domestic football after falling short in their bid to return to the group phase.

Elsewhere, Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars produced a spirited comeback to overcome Flambeau du Centre of Burundi. After losing the first leg 1-0, Singida rallied at home with a 3-1 win to secure a 3-2 aggregate triumph and progress to the next round for the first time in their history.

In Morocco, OC Safi held on to advance despite a 2-1 defeat in their second-leg encounter. The Moroccan side’s earlier 2-0 first-leg victory proved decisive, as they progressed 3-2 on aggregate to reach the group stages of the competition.
