Simba roar to Group A summit with commanding Constantine victory

Simba SC secured top spot in TotalEneergies CAF Confederation Cup Group A with a composed 2-0 victory over CS Constantine in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.
The Tanzanian side's dominant second-half display, crowned by goals from Kibu Denis and Leonel Ateba, ensured they finished one point clear of their Algerian opponents at the group summit.
After a tense opening hour, Denis broke the deadlock with a powerful strike from inside the box, before Ateba's clinical finish from a counter-attack sealed the result with 11 minutes remaining.
Both sides progress to the quarter-finals, with Simba accumulating 13 points from their group campaign while Constantine settle for second place on 12 points.
Meanwhile in the group's other game on Sunday, CS Sfaxien's emphatic 4-0 victory over Bravos do Maquis proved merely a footnote as the Tunisian side exited the CAF Confederation Cup with just three points from their group campaign.
Mohamed Nasraoui set the tone after just three minutes, converting a well-worked team move, before Firas Sekkouhi's precise strike doubled the advantage on 33 minutes.
The visitors' misery deepened through two second-half own goals - MP Neves turning into his own net after 54 minutes before Neves Mengue's similar misfortune in stoppage time completed a night to forget for the Angolan side.
Despite showcasing their attacking prowess in this final group match, CS Sfaxien's earlier struggles proved costly as they finished bottom of Group A, their belated display of quality insufficient to prevent their premature exit from the competition.
