South African giants Kaizer Chiefs have booked their place in the Second Preliminary Round of the 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup after defeating Angolan side Kabuscorp 5–4 on penalties at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The tie ended 1–1 on aggregate after Chiefs overturned the first leg deficit with a Glody Lilepo strike to give Amakhosi a fighting chance.

Despite creating several chances, the home side were unable to extend their lead as Kabuscorp goalkeeper Rachoni produced a string of decisive saves to keep his team in the contest.

With no further goals in regulation time, the match was decided from the spot, where Chiefs held their nerve to triumph 5–4 in front of their home supporters.

Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen proved decisive, saving one penalty, while Gaston Sirino, Reeve Frosler, Flavio Da Silva, Thabo Cele and Aden McCarthy all converted to send the Amakhosi through.

The Soweto club will now face the winner of the clash between AS Simba (DR Congo) and Djabal d’Iconi (Comoros) in the next round.

TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup preliminary action continues throughout the weekend.
