TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup | Match Day 6 Post-match comments

Published:

The TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup concluded its group stages of the competition on Sunday, 04 March.

The competition now heads into the exciting knockout phase, with the quarter-final draw set to be conducted in the next few days.

This is what some of the coaches had to say post their respective fixtures.

USM Alger vs SuperSport United FC

Gavin Hunt - Supersport United FC head coach

"We played well with a young team with several players under 20, but the result is what it is. It reflects our journey in this group stage: good performances, but results that do not reflect the quality of our games. Compared to other clubs, we have a small budget and that's why we are counting on young players."

Juan Carlos Garrido - USM Alger head coach

"It was very important to finish at the top of our group and we did it. We achieved 4 wins and 1 draw out of 6 group matches. There is pressure from the supporters and that is completely normal for a big club. It was not easy to play against an opponent which was already eliminated and which played without any pressure. We got back on the path to victory. We now have to improve our level of play."

Future FC vs Al Hilal Benghazi

Tamer Mostafa - Future Coach

“This is an amazing result for our club. I am satisfied with the result and my team performance today. I said before the game that we are playing with just winning in our minds and my players followed the instructions. I don't think of our coming opponent in the quarter-finals because the competition is going to be more tough from now on.

Zoran Manolovic - Al Hilal Coach

“Congratulations to Future FC, they deserved to win. Future is one of top 4 or 5 sides in Egypt and they showed that today. Nothing worked well for my team today, but we have to accept the result. We will go back and study what happened”
