TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup: Second leg set to decide Group Stage entrants
The TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup second qualifying round is reaching its decisive phase, with second leg fixtures set to determine which clubs will advance to the group stages.
After a mix of dominant wins, tightly contested draws, and narrow margins in the first leg, the return matches promise drama and high-stakes football across the continent.
South African sides Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC remain in contention after goalless draws in their respective first legs. Chiefs held AS Simba away from home and now prepare to host the DR Congo outfit, aiming to use home advantage to secure progression.
Stellenbosch, also involved in a goalless stalemate against 15 de Agosto, will look to continue their impressive debut campaign on the continental stage with a decisive performance at home.
Elsewhere, ZESCO United and Jwaneng Galaxy produced one of the most thrilling first-leg encounters, with ZESCO edging a 4–3 win. The second leg could go either way, with Galaxy needing a two-goal swing to overturn the deficit.
Egyptian giants Zamalek are all but through after a commanding 6–0 win over Dekedaha.
Wydad AC hold a 1–0 lead over Asante Kotoko and will aim to seal their spot in the next round.
Azam FC carry a 2–0 advantage into their second leg against KMKM, while CR Belouizdad will host Hafia looking to build on their first-leg momentum.
Other fixtures remain delicately poised. Royal Leopards and Maniema Union drew 1–1, as did Singida Black Stars and Flambeau du Centre, and San-Pédro and Coton Sport Benin.
These ties will be decided in evenly matched return legs.
USM Alger will attempt to overturn a 1–0 deficit against AFAD Plateau, while Stade Tunisien will host OC Safi hoping to recover from a 2–0 first-leg loss. Otôho d’Oyo lead Ferroviário Maputo 1–0, and Djoliba will look to defend their 1–0 lead over USFA.
ES Sahel, trailing 2–0 to Nairobi United, face a must-win situation. Al Masry and Al-Ittihad remain deadlocked after a goalless first leg.
With group stage qualification and continental prestige on the line, the second leg of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup promises fierce competition and decisive African club football.
