Published:

The return legs TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Quarter-Finals officially get underway on Wednesday, 09 April.

This is what some of the coaches and players had to say ahead of Wednesday’s much anticipated showdowns.

Fadlu Davids - Simba SC Head Coach

“We know our results for the last match was not what we wanted although the performance was good. Our approach for this game is to turnover the results to qualify, we know we need two goals to get to the penalties, we need three goals to qualify, very important in this match is to keep the clean sheet because if they score one, we need to score four so we need to be very careful with their counter attacks.

ANIS BOUJELBENE - Al Masry Head Coach

“Our preparations are good, though we got two goals in the first leg at home. It does not mean that we will come as a weak team, we expect to do better to qualify to the Semis.

Al Masry is a big team like Simba so minor things like weather is not the things that can affect our players, we know that it will not be not easy match, we will fight to qualify in front of Simba”

KARİM AL-IRAQI- Player Al Masry

“Our focus is on the second leg match against Simba, we know that Simba will come with the pressure to win.  We are ready and we are here to play and not to defend.

MOHAMED HUSSEIN - Simba SC Captain

“All players know their responsibilities for the second leg match against Al Masry, everyone in the team wants to fight for the team, we want to qualify to the semis and our mentality is we want to qualify.

Kheireddine Madoui - Head Coach CS Constantine):

"Unlike the first leg, this return match between will be truly decisive. The equalizing goal scored by USM Alger will change our approach to the second leg. We noticed several positive points within our team after the first leg, both technically and tactically, and we could have won this match. We will refer to our performance to prepare for the second leg. We experienced a down period, but the team freed itself from the psychological pressure against USM Alger and we will build on that. Tomorrow, it will be fifty-fifty, but these are the kind of matches our team likes to play. Our goal is, of course, to qualify for the next round. We hope the match will be as fraternal as it was in the first leg."

Zakaria Messibah - CS Constantine player
"As CS Constantine players, we have prepared well for this match. I hope we will start the match well, just as we did in the first leg, making sure to correct our weaknesses. In fact, we have worked hard on this throughout the week. We need to be very focused at the start of the match. This is very important. We will do everything we can to capitalize on the opportunities we get."
Marcos Paqueta (head coach of USM Alger):
"This month will be decisive for USM Alger because there is the CAF Confederation Cup, but also the Algerian Cup. I know it will be a very tough match against CS Constantine. I hope my players are ready for this match. We have worked so hard to make sure they are."
Kamel Soufi (USM Alger player):
"We are aware of the importance of the CAF Confederation Cup, which is different from the Algerian championship or the Algerian Cup. We have prepared well for this game. We, the players, hope to rise to the occasion and bring the joy of qualification to our fans."
