USM Alger continue TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Group A dominance
USM Alger secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Djoliba to strengthen their position in the CAF competition, delivering a disciplined and effective performance at home.
The hosts took the lead early in the first half through Zakaria Draoui, who finished calmly from close range in the 12th minute after a well-delivered cross by Houssam Ghacha.
USM Alger continued to control proceedings, creating several chances, with Ghacha and Dramane Kamagate testing Djoliba goalkeeper Wilfried Kouassi on multiple occasions.
Djoliba showed moments of attacking intent, notably through Boua Kané and Fodé Touré, but they were unable to beat Oussama Benbot, who remained solid in goal for the Algerian side.
The decisive moment came in the 80th minute when Ahmed Khaldi doubled USM Alger’s advantage with a brilliant left-footed strike from the right side of the box, curling the ball into the top corner following a rapid counter attack, again involving Kamagate in the build-up.
Both teams made several substitutions in the closing stages, but USM Alger comfortably managed the game to preserve their clean sheet and secure a third successive Group A victory.
