USM Alger produced an impressive campaign in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2025-26, confirming their status as one of the continent’s leading clubs.

The Algerian side reached the second final in their history in the competition after a deserved run built on balance, consistency and strong character across the different stages of the tournament.

USM Alger began their journey in the second preliminary round against Ivorian side AFAD Djékanou. They lost the first leg 1-0 away from home, but responded strongly in the return match with a commanding 3-0 victory to secure qualification for the group stage with confidence.

In the group stage, USM Alger delivered a remarkable series of performances. They opened their campaign with an exciting 3-2 win over Ivorian club San Pedro, before earning a valuable 1-0 away victory against Morocco’s Olympique Safi. They then continued their strong form with a well-deserved 2-0 win over Mali’s Djoliba AC, ending the first half of the group campaign in impressive fashion.

The “Sons of Soustara” began the second half of the group stage with a valuable 0-0 away draw against Djoliba AC in the fourth round. They then once again got the better of San Pedro, winning 3-2 away from home, before concluding the group stage with a 0-0 draw against Olympique Safi at the 5 July Stadium in Algiers.

With these results, goalkeeper Oussama Benbot and his teammates finished top of Group A with 14 points, going unbeaten in a clear demonstration of their strength and consistency.

In the quarter-finals, USM Alger faced a tough test against Congolese side Maniema Union. They lost the first leg 2-1 away from home, but showed the character of champions in the return match, claiming a crucial 1-0 victory to book their place in the semi-finals.

There, USM Alger met Olympique Safi once again in two tactical and tightly contested matches. The first leg in Algiers ended in a goalless draw, before USM Alger earned a 1-1 draw away from home in the return leg to secure qualification for the final.

In the final, USM Alger will face Egypt’s Zamalek SC, with the first leg to be played in Algiers and the return leg in Cairo. The Algerian club will be aiming to claim another continental title, building on their historic success in 2023, when they won both the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup and the TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup.

Now, USM Alger will look to continue writing history and proudly represent Algerian football on the continental stage.
