Zamalek’s road to the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2025/26 Final
Egypt’s Zamalek SC secured their place in the final of the 2025-26 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup after an impressive campaign that showcased their continental experience, resilience and winning mentality.
The Cairo giants reached the third final in their history in the competition, underlining their determination to compete for yet another continental title.
Zamalek, who previously won the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup in 2019 and 2024, now face a tough final against Union of Algiers. The first leg will be played in Algiers, before Zamalek host the return leg in Cairo as they look to add another African trophy to their collection.
Zamalek began their campaign in the second preliminary round against Somali side Dekedaha. They produced a dominant performance away from home, winning 6-0, before confirming their superiority with a 1-0 victory in the second leg to qualify comfortably for the group stage.

In Group D, Zamalek delivered a solid and consistent performance, finishing top of the standings with 11 points from three wins, two draws and one defeat. The group also included their domestic rivals Al Masry, South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs and Zambia’s ZESCO United.
Zamalek opened the group stage with an important 1-0 victory over ZESCO United, before earning a valuable 1-1 draw away to Kaizer Chiefs. They then played out a goalless draw against Al Masry.
In the second half of the group campaign, Zamalek claimed a crucial 2-1 away win over Al Masry, suffered a 1-0 defeat to ZESCO United, and then wrapped up the group stage with a deserved 2-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs.
In the quarter-finals, Zamalek faced Congolese side Otoho. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, the Egyptian club won the return match 2-1 to book their place in the semi-finals.

There, Zamalek came up against Shabab Belouizdad in a tense North African derby. They earned a valuable 1-0 away victory in the first leg, before holding their opponents to a 0-0 draw in Cairo to seal their qualification for the final.
Zamalek will now meet Union of Algiers in what promises to be a fiercely contested North African final, with both sides aiming to lift a prestigious continental title.
